On May 23,2009 I rented a home in Legacy Park. On June 23,2009 a representative from Suntrust Mortgage came to our home looking for the owner of the property, which was not our landlord. They told us our home has been in foreclosure since Jan.23,2009 and they had no clue who our said "landlords" were. They advised us as well as the states attorney for Florida (Jerry Hill) to NOT pay our rent. They believed that we were being equity skimmed, SCAMMED! We then called multiple attorneys/real estate companies and even the FBI and they agreed, don't pay rent and sit tight. We then called our landlord and told him of the situation. He then said that is crazy and we are crazy. He said I we own the home and you have to pay rent. We told him, you prove to us you own the home and will give you your rent money along with any late fees we've obatined. He then in return said he doesn't have any proof that he owns the property. Then on July 6th he put a 3 day notice to vacate the property paper, that has misspelled words among other things. I just don't know what to do or what this world has come to. Here I thought I was moving to The Sunshine State, for fun and sun and it has been a stressful experience since I got here. Someone please help! The company I am dealing with (my so called landlords) is Capital Mountain Holding Corp....has anyone dealt with them?

Contact State Attorney general and ask questions. Each state has different laws... you can contact the county assessor and give your home address and that will tell you who owns the property. Then, double check by calling the Public Trustee's office in your county and see if your home is on the sale list. I would file a court case seeking your landloard to court to prove he owns the property...so answer the 3 day, do nothing wait for the summons and answer that and file it and you will get a court date.
