We voluntarily moved to a larger home to better fit our family. We knew that this landlord was desperate to get someone in there to make the payment, even though this went unsaid. Our bad! After not collecting a deposit from us and not signing a lease our bad again! We found out about 2 months later by a real estate agent that the house was in default since mid summer! Our landlady knew it was in default when she moved us in. After talking with her she stated there was no problem and we should not worry, she was taking care of it. Then about a week before Christmas she starts demanding Jan rent! After a huge ordeal...she gives us a 30 day notice because she is in a bind and now needs to live in "her" home. So we have to leave! It gets better...so we hold Jan rent since we are out a deposit and have a short time to move. After getting out because of harrasssment she is now suing us for half of Jan rent. BTW her house is now in foeclosure! There are tons more details including unlawful entry on her and such but not enough room for my entire story. Moral:Dont try and help a landlady out of a hole she created!
