Landlord STOLE our money!! Rental prior to the one now in pre-forclosure..owner decided to sell without notice to us. We had a month's security on that rental that his real estate agent (since the sale went through quickly) try to get us out a.s.a.p. We stayed the full 30 days but had to borrow money to move. Fast forward to coming down to the wire of 3 days before we found this "gem". Earlier real estate agent and this schmuck's r.e. agent were the master minds. Moved in @ Halloween. Took first and down of $1280.00. We had to clean since he had kicked out previous tenant. Come January 15..this guy is going into foreclosure. 2 1/2 months and he thinks this is funny. Both "his" real estate agent and he are telling us.."Let's not panic". Sure buddy it ain't YOUR money!!!!! All the while this guy goes on fishing excursions down to the Florida Keys on his boat. Owns a home in St. Augustine, this condo by the beach. I knew something wasn't right after we signed the lease that rent was to be paid using his deposit slip to his bank account. Papers had already been signed after this disclosure. Needless to say, we had NO MORE $$$$ to move and fortunately MORE $$$$ out of my husband's 401K, they refinanced one of our other loans and we went back to apartment living!!! Thing that irks me is..this guy stole ALL our rent, our security deposit and the laws are allowing these and they are common criminals to get away with this with NO accountability!!! I've written to my representatives, these people need to be prosecuted especially the thieve who knew darn right well they weren't paying their mortages prior to signing leases. This guy was in default from the summer!!! Isn't this illegal????? This also involved a little child and made both of us sick. I can see we're in good company and pray for ALL of you here!!!!
