Comment: I have been renting a house with my ten year old son for over two years at 1,500 every month.A few days ago, I came home to see a Notice of trustee's Sale taped to my front door. My house owner ( who lives about 5 miles away never told me a thing about this; obviously, if this note is on my door; this has been going on for quite some time and I was left totally in the dark; we are literally shocked over this. I am a single mother with a litle boy; where do I go from here? What are my options? Does anyone have an answer? Thanks. |

California's newly passed laws protecting renters are different here than they are in Nevada. They are VERY different. In California they can't kick you out in such short amount of time. If the property is taken by the bank, they have to give you 60 days. Same thing if the property sales right away, the new owners have to give you 60 days to find a new place to live. Most banks will offer tenants Cash for Keys for them to move out before the house sells.
Again, this is in California, things in Nevada are much different and much worse right now for people paying rent. The State of Nevada is working on passing laws to better protect tenants from foreclosures.
Just FYI. Posted By norma from California on June 19, 2009, 10:36 pm this info has helped me a lot since i'm in the same situation but what's worse the owner still wants me to pay rent... Posted By Crista from Nevada on June 3, 2009, 7:55 pm Just so you a judicial forclousure in the state of Nevada from start to finish is 7 monthes. Meaning from the time the owner stops making the payment until it sells at auction. If there is already a notice of trustee sale on the door. You have 15 days from the date on the paper to vacate the property. Notice of default is filed 90 days after 4 or more missed payments Notice of Trustee sale is posted and it has to be posted 15 days prior to auction. YOU DONT HAVE A LONG TIME YOU HAVE WEEKS I just finished dealing with this with my prior landlord if I were you id start packing. Posted By michelle from Pennsylvania on May 20, 2009, 2:43 pm going through the same thing freddie Mac now has some help for renters, check out thier website look for avoidforeclosure/rental_initiative its called REO Rental Initiative,I am waiting for my papers also,I know how you feel!!!! Posted By Kathleen from California on May 17, 2009, 11:43 am This is to Stephanie from Calif. Thank you so much for your reply; you helped ease my worries; thank you.....Kathleen Posted By Stephanie from California on May 16, 2009, 6:59 pm Dont you dare move yet! You have time and rights! First of all dont you send another dime of rent. DO start looking for another place however DO NOT PANIC. You have alot of time before ANYONE sends a Sheriff out to move you and that usually can take up to 6 months or more. Also Most Banks send someone out to the home to talk to you eventually and they ALMOST ALWAYS will offer you money..most of the time anywhere from 500-2500 in cash to move you out so they can sell it. I hope this helps.
