The house that we have rented since July 1, 2005 was served with a notice that the property was going up for foreclosure less than two weeks ago. Like many, we knew nothing until the posting on our door. Our landlord who came to our house for the rent never said a word to us that he was in trouble. It is a shame that there are not laws in our state that if a landlord takes your money and is in default of his mortgage it is fraud against a tennant.

The mail man yesterday tried to deliever a certified letter to our out of state owners. We have a lease. But how would I know if this is a defualt notice of some sort. We got one last march from the HOA about their fees not being paid. I'm worried because we have no money to move. And also. My son is autistic and needs this particular school zone.

If you rent month to month the landlord has nothing to disclose to you. On the other hand if you are in a lease for a fixed term, you should have recourse. Check the laws enacted last October. If you are and have been current with your rent you'll be O.K..
